Outreach and Communications Coordinator

The role

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and community-minded individual to serve as their newly established Outreach & Communications Coordinator, leading and strengthening the District's public engagement and communications efforts.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement strategic communication initiatives that increase public awareness, understanding, and participation in the District's conservation programs.
• Lead the District's communications program, including the website, social media platforms, digital and print publications, newsletters, photography, media relations, marketing campaigns, and other digital communication initiatives.
• Expand the District's reach by engaging both traditional and new audiences, building relationships with diverse communities, and promoting the District as a trusted resource for conservation education and stewardship.
• Monitor emerging communication trends, evaluate outreach effectiveness through performance metrics and analytics, and continually refine communication strategies to strengthen public engagement, enhance organizational visibility, and support the District's long-term conservation goals.

What it takes

• A four-year degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field OR four years of equivalent transferable skills in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field that demonstrates attainment of the core competencies for the position.
• Skills in the development of communications and marketing plans.
• Skills in graphic design, photography, videography, and website management.
• Knowledge of interpretative planning and ability to implement projects such as signage, exhibits, educational materials, and displays.
• Ability to measure and report on communication and marketing outcomes using websites, social media, email, and event analytics.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA), plain language principles, and applicable public records requirements.

The District currently contributes 90% of the cost of the employee’s medical, dental, and vision insurance. The District covers the full cost of a life insurance policy of $10,000 face value and participation in an Employee Assistance Program. Eligibility for the District’s deferred compensation (457b) retirement plan begins following the satisfactory completion of a six-month Introductory Period
