The role
The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Officer for Psychosocial Support to support mental health and psychosocial support activities in the aftermath of a recent earthquake in Caracas, Venezuela.
What you'll do
- Implement community-based activities, awareness, and advocacy to promote access to protection and psychosocial support services
- Conduct community visits to identify key actors, community resources, and protection and psychosocial support needs
- Facilitate group and community-based psychosocial support activities
- Provide brief crisis-focused psychosocial support to affected individuals
- Identify individuals with specific protection or mental health needs and ensure safe and timely referrals to specialized services
- Participate in the development and adaptation of methodologies, tools, and materials for psychosocial support and awareness activities in emergency contexts
What it takes
- At least 2 years of experience in protection programs in humanitarian organizations
- Experience in designing and facilitating psychosocial support activities, community mobilization, and support network strengthening
- Knowledge of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), including crisis intervention and brief individual psychosocial support
- Experience facilitating trainings, workshops, or capacity-building activities
- Confidentiality and security of individuals served
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
