The role
The consultant will contribute to strengthening the institutional and technical capacity of national statistical offices in Caribbean SIDS to produce statistics on maritime trade.
What you'll do
- Guide and assist experts in setting up a statistical production system for maritime trade data compilation
- Produce statistics on imports and exports by sea, including CO2 emissions
- Participate remotely in meetings of national taskforces on GHG emission statistics
- Incorporate insights from the implementation phase into Compilation Guidelines
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in statistics, data science or a related field
- At least 3 years of work experience in processing and geo-spatial analysis of environmental data
- Experience in processing and analysis of high-volume data on international trade, vessel voyages (e.g. from Automatic Identification System/Vessel Monitoring System (AIS/VMS) and emissions
- Desired: Knowledge of environmental or energy systems
