The National Technical Officer for Serbia - Level A position at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) involves coordinating project activities, providing technical advice, and supporting the implementation of a GEF-funded project focused on the preparation of the updated NBSAP and submission of the 7th National Report.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical advice and support implementation of project activities in Serbia.
  • Prepare detailed work plans and support UNEP Programme Managers.
  • Liaise with UNEP regional, national, and local partners.
  • Support UNEP Programme Managers in organizing and coordinating project activities.
  • Support the development of relevant policy briefs, lessons learned documents, and communication materials.
  • Ensure timely preparation of required reports.

What it takes

  • A master’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, management, international relations, economics, or related studies.
  • Minimum of two years relevant professional experience at the national and/or international level.
  • Experience in supporting implementation of projects/processes that include extensive communication, coordination, and facilitation.
  • Good understanding of Serbia's environment sector, knowledge of current policies and major development challenges.
  • Experience in partnership building at international, national, regional, and local level is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Serbian is required.
