The role

The position involves technical support for the implementation of activities related to the strengthening and production of products and services for the Coordination of Elimination, Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases and Health Determinants in Brazil.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical advice to PAHO/WHO on the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of technical cooperation related to environmental health, climate change and worker and worker health.
  • Support the implementation of agreements, adjustment terms, LOAs and special projects related to the areas of consultation, including support to coordinators, national consultants and other PAHO/WHO professionals in negotiations, planning and technical and financial monitoring of these instruments.
  • Provide technical cooperation to develop and/or promote policies, guidelines, plans, protocols and evidence-based tools for environmental health surveillance, climate change adaptation, promotion of healthy work environments and prevention of work-related diseases and injuries.
  • Support technical actions related to AdaptaSUS, Information Centers in Health and Climate — CISC and preparation and response of the health sector to extreme weather events, considering their impacts on the working population.
  • Support the strengthening of the National Policy on Occupational Health and Safety — PNSTT, Occupational Health Surveillance — Visat, Renast and Cerest, including their articulation with primary care and other health and surveillance networks of SUS.

What it takes

  • Essential: Graduation in Collective Health, Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Epidemiology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology or related field to the scope of the consultancy.
  • Desirable: Post-graduate in Public Health, Collective Health, Epidemiology, Climate Change and Health, Environmental Health, Risk Management and Disaster Management, Geoprocessing or related field.
  • Essential: At least seven years of experience in the health sector, with at least two of the following areas: environmental health, climate change and health, occupational health and safety, health surveillance, sanitation or risk management of environmental and occupational hazards.
  • Essential: Proficiency in Portuguese, with excellent technical writing skills.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of work in Spanish and/or English.
