The role

The National Advocacy Analyst will lead evidence-based advocacy efforts in Nigeria to increase investment in midwifery models of care and maternal and newborn health (MNH) commodities. Based in Abuja, the consultant will coordinate with government ministries and stakeholders to implement SMART advocacy strategies and strengthen national health policies. This three-month consultancy aims to improve healthcare infrastructure, integrate digital training tools, and mobilize resources to reduce maternal mortality. The role requires close collaboration with UNFPA technical teams and donor partners to drive measurable policy and investment outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Formulate and implement integrated country advocacy plans for midwifery and MNH commodities.
  • Facilitate high-level policy dialogues with federal ministries and professional associations.
  • Conduct stakeholder power mapping and establish a National Midwifery Advocacy Coalition.
  • Develop an advocacy results framework and monitor progress through quarterly reporting.
  • Advocate for the integration of digital training tools into national midwifery education systems.

What it takes

  • Postgraduate degree in public health, international affairs, social sciences, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or diplomacy.
