The role
The Movement Control Officer will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, requisitions, and transportation plans, as well as coordinating the transportation of personnel and equipment for UN peacekeeping missions and other DOS clients.
What you'll do
- Prepares cost estimates for mandate periods for budget and planning purposes
- Prepares requisitions or Letters of Assist for transport operations
- Develops Scope of Work (SOWs) to accurately reflect transportation requirements
- Ensures bid document prepared by the Procurement Division (PD) conforms with operational requirements
- Reviews bid responses and conducts operational and technical evaluation and analysis of the bids
- Participates in technical field missions as required
What it takes
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in supply chain management, business administration, public administration, transportation management or related field
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in administration and management of transportation
- A minimum of two years of experience in at least two modes of transport (air, sea, road, and rail)
- Experience in the assessment of contract proposals for movements in two modes of transportation
- Experience in managing and tasking commercial freight forwarding services
- Experience in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, including supply chain modules such as a Transportation Management (TM) module or equivalent
