The role
Hope Services is seeking a Sub/Temp Mental Health Clinician to provide assessment, diagnosis, therapy, and advocacy for clients with dual diagnoses in Silicon Valley.
What you'll do
- Provides individual, group and family therapy to persons with a developmental disability who are diagnosed with severe mental illness.
- Utilize professional education and training to diagnose and treat the clients’ mental illnesses.
- Provide psychotherapy to empower clients to identify and manage their psychiatric symptoms.
- Constantly assess clients for potential harm to self, harm to others, or potential victimization and take appropriate measures to maintain safety.
- Use professional training and credential to advocate for clients with other agencies.
- Develop relapse prevention strategies with clients and their support systems.
What it takes
- Current licensure as a LCSW, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist and experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
- Pre-Licensed Mental Health Clinician must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral degree program (MSW, MFT, PhD) that is eligible for licensure to provide psychotherapy by the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, or the Board of Psychology.
- Basic computer skills in work processing and spreadsheet application.
- Ability to observe, evaluate, document and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of disabilities and the biological, psychological and social models.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision making situations.
