The role
The Medical Coordinator will provide overall technical and clinical leadership for paediatric and medical services within RI-supported health facilities in North Darfur, Sudan. This role combines direct clinical care with strategic oversight, quality assurance, mentoring and health systems strengthening.
What you'll do
- Provide overall technical leadership and oversight of paediatric and medical services across RI-supported secondary and primary healthcare facilities.
- Deliver and supervise high-quality paediatric clinical care, including emergency case management, inpatient services, stabilization of severe cases and referral coordination.
- Mentor, coach and build the capacity of doctors, nurses and clinical teams through supportive supervision, bedside training and quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead clinical quality assurance processes, including audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, infection prevention measures and patient safety improvements.
- Strengthen coordination with government authorities, health partners, referral facilities and humanitarian stakeholders to improve service quality and continuity of care.
What it takes
- Medical Doctor (MD) with a postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Tropical Medicine or another relevant clinical specialty
- Substantial proven experience providing paediatric clinical care, emergency case management and inpatient services in humanitarian, development or public health settings
- Strong experience in clinical supervision, mentorship, capacity building and quality improvement of healthcare professionals
- Sound knowledge of WHO guidelines, humanitarian health standards, clinical protocols and integrated healthcare programming
- Experience working with government health authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and health-sector coordination mechanisms
- Strong leadership, data analysis, communication, report-writing and stakeholder management skills
