The Syria International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) is seeking a Liaison Officer to serve as the in-country focal point in Damascus, Syria. What you'll do
- Foster effective working relations with Syrian authorities, UN colleagues, and civil society.
- Provide in-country operational and logistical support to the Mechanism’s missions and staff.
- Draft talking points, speeches, and secretariat services for the Head of Entity.
- Monitor and report on programme and project development in coordination with management.
- Advise leadership on transitional justice and criminal accountability processes in Syria.
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in social sciences, political science, international relations, or law.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, diplomacy, or programme management.
- Minimum of two years of experience in field operations, political outreach, or facilitation.
- Required fluency in English and Arabic (UN Level III).
- Proven experience in the MENA region, with desirability for prior experience in Syria or conflict contexts.
