The role

The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Afghanistan is seeking a Legal Officer to support the collection, consolidation, preservation, and analysis of evidence related to international crimes in Afghanistan.

What you'll do

  • Prepare or coordinate actions with the Senior Legal Officer for Collections and Analysis
  • Provide legal advice on the preparation of case files and evidentiary modules
  • Assess whether collected evidence meets legal requirements
  • Contribute to the preparation of case files and evidentiary modules
  • Supervise junior officers as required

What it takes

  • A first-level university degree in law, criminal law or international criminal law
  • An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) is required
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible legal experience
  • Experience working in a domestic or International Criminal Tribunal is desirable
  • Experience drafting or reviewing indictments is desirable
  • Legal work experience in relation to the Afghan context is desirable
