What you'll do
- Assist with tree planting, staking, mulching, watering, and pruning across Louisville Grows' urban forestry sites
- Maintain community gardens, pollinator plantings, and green infrastructure installations
- Support site prep and maintenance for volunteer workdays alongside our Citizen Forester network
- Monitor tree and plant health, and flag issues (pests, disease, storm damage) to program staff
- Build and repair raised beds, fencing, tool sheds, signage, and other site structures
- Perform basic carpentry, minor repairs, and general upkeep at garden and forestry sites
What it takes
- Interest in landscaping, tree care, gardening, or general grounds maintenance
- Basic carpentry, repair, or handyman skills (building, fixing, and maintaining structures/equipment)
- Willingness to learn plant and tree identification, planting techniques, and basic arboriculture
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a crew or with volunteers
- Valid driver's license
