The role

The American Conservation Experience, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, is seeking a Land Stewardship Member to support habitat management and conservation efforts in Southern Florida. Based primarily out of the Blowing Rocks Preserve, the member will gain hands-on experience in invasive species control, native plant propagation, and wildlife monitoring. This is a 49-week immersive internship designed to provide professional development and exposure to applied conservation science.

What you'll do

  • Perform invasive species control through manual, mechanical, and chemical methods.
  • Conduct habitat restoration, native plant propagation, and monitoring of imperiled species.
  • Manage preserve landscapes, including trail maintenance, mowing, and trimming.
  • Assist with applied conservation science, data management, and water quality monitoring.
  • Engage with volunteers and support community outreach and education initiatives.

What it takes

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable record (must be 21+ to drive).
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot, high-humidity conditions for labor-intensive tasks.
  • Degree or relevant experience in Biology, Botany, Ecology, or Natural Resource Management.
  • Experience with safe operation of hand and power tools.
