The role

The Knowledge Management Officer will support UN-Habitat Afghanistan office to increase the understanding, advocate and mobilize resources for increased implementation of a community-centered approaches to adequate housing/shelter with secure tenure, increased access to basic services and advance disaster-resilience of communities and infrastructure, focusing on people in vulnerable situations living in urban informal settlements across the countries and in settlements of all sizes.

What you'll do

  • Support project teams for an effective and efficient execution of selected projects and programmes as envisaged in project documents, including work plans, budgets and logical framework, by providing advisory support to projects including field monitoring missions, and coordination.
  • Participate in the development, resource mobilisation, implementation, and donor reporting of projects and programmes.
  • Monitor progress and analyze impacts and results of the implementation with reviewing relevant documents and reports for adequate donor reporting and advocacy.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international relations, Media Communications, social sciences relevant to development and management of human settlements or related field is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human settlements programmes in crises or displacement contexts is required.
  • Experience in human settlements development fields, partnerships and donor relationship, projects/programmes management or design is required.
