The role

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is establishing a roster of qualified international consultants to support the strengthening of national regulatory systems for medicines and health technologies. Selected professionals will provide technical cooperation in areas such as marketing authorization, regulatory inspections, vigilance, and laboratory testing in line with WHO Global Benchmarking Tool standards. Consultants will assist Member States in developing institutional plans, fostering regulatory harmonization, and promoting convergence across the Americas. What you'll do

  • Provide technical guidance to national regulatory authorities to strengthen frameworks.
  • Support the implementation of the WHO Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT).

  • Advise on regulatory convergence and reliance strategies at regional and subregional levels.
  • Develop technical documentation, policy papers, and progress reports for stakeholders.

What it takes

  • University degree in pharmacy, regulatory affairs, public health, or related field.
  • At least seven years of professional experience in health technology regulatory systems.
  • Proven expertise in at least one of the nine GBT regulatory functions.
  • Fluency in Spanish or English, with working knowledge of the other language.
  • Familiarity with PAHO/WHO regulatory cooperation frameworks and regional networks.
