The role

This consultancy provides technical leadership for assessing and strengthening Health Care Waste Management (HCWM) systems in Suriname. The consultant will conduct a national assessment, identify system gaps, and develop a five-year Continuous Improvement Plan. They will also provide training to the national assessment team and offer recommendations on sustainable technologies.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical leadership for national HCWM assessment planning and quality assurance.
  • Adapt and apply WHO/UNDP methodology to the local context.
  • Train and mentor the national assessment team on data collection procedures.
  • Analyze findings and prepare a comprehensive national assessment report.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultation and validation of results.
  • Develop a costed five-year National HCWM Continuous Improvement Plan.

What it takes

  • University degree in environmental health, Sanitary Engineering, or Public Health.
  • Advanced degree (Master's) preferred for senior roles.
  • 7 to 9 years of experience in Environmental Health or Waste Management.
  • Fluency in English with Dutch as a desirable language skill.
  • Proven track record in policy development and strategic planning.
  • Experience in technical leadership and assessment at the facility level.
