The role
Assists in planning, coordinating and supervising the organization and provision of secretariat services for sessions and meetings of the General Assembly and its subsidiary organs as well as Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and their preparatory committees.
What you'll do
- Assists in planning, coordinating and supervising the organization and provision of secretariat services for sessions and meetings of the General Assembly and its subsidiary organs as well as Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and their preparatory committees
- Prepares procedural notes for presiding officers and handles voting and election procedures
- Ensures timely and accurate submission and issuance of all pre-session, in-session, and post-session documentation
- Provides continuous guidance and advice to the presiding officers on organization of work, status of negotiations, conduct of business, rules of procedure and administrative issues
- Prepares summaries and analytical reports on proceedings of meetings and follows up on implementation of their decisions and recommendations
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in international relations, law, diplomacy or related field
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in international relations, law, diplomacy or related area
- Experience in the provision of substantive support to intergovernmental processes and legislative machinery in an international organization such as the United Nations
- Experience dealing with procedures, policies and practices of intergovernmental bodies of a major international organization
- Ability to provide advice to leaders of intergovernmental bodies
