The role
The consultant will undertake a rigorous secondary analysis of fertility dynamics, reproductive preferences, and related variables from the 2023/24 Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey (ZDHS) dataset to produce a publication-quality thematic report.
What you'll do
- Apply multivariate demographic models to identify socioeconomic, behavioral, and geographic determinants of fertility levels, timing of childbearing, and birth spacing.
- Model factors influencing fertility preferences, desired family size, and the mismatch between intentions and outcomes.
- Quantify fertility inequalities across population groups and simulate implications for policy and resource allocation.
- Conduct additional analyses relevant to young people and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) thematic area.

- Master’s degree or PhD in Demography, Social Statistics, Public Health, Sociology, or Epidemiology
- 7-10 years of professional experience conducting complex secondary data analysis and statistical modelling with a focus on DHS or MICS.
- Expert-level programming skills in Stata or R.
- Experience in data visualization using GIS.
- Proven ability to translate complex models into concise policy briefs.
- Strong interpersonal and training/mentorship skills.
