The role

The position involves monitoring, analyzing and reporting on humanitarian developments in assigned country/area. It also includes coordinating international humanitarian/emergency assistance for complex emergency/disaster situations.

What you'll do

  • Monitors and analyzes humanitarian developments
  • Partners with other agencies to plan and evaluate emergency assistance programs
  • Drafts reports on the monitoring of implementation of work plans and situational assessments
  • Manages or assists in the production of appeals for international assistance
  • Establishes and maintains contacts with government officials, NGOs, diplomatic missions, media, etc.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s) in political science, social science, public administration, international studies, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or other related area
  • Experience in humanitarian financing and donor relations for humanitarian programs
  • Experience within the UN Common System or other international organization is desirable
  • Fluency in English and French; Arabic, Russian, Spanish, or Chinese (Mandarin) is desirable
