The role
The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will monitor, analyze, and report on humanitarian developments, support inter-agency coordination, and prepare written reports and communications.
What you'll do
- Monitor, analyze, and report on humanitarian developments
- Support inter-agency coordination among the IASC’s Emergency Directors Group (EDG) members
- Prepare and organize studies and strategic outreach on humanitarian, emergency relief, and related issues
- Partners with other humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate humanitarian and emergency assistance programs
- Prepare or contribute to the preparation of various written reports, documents, and communications
- Serve as the primary focal point on specific topics or policy-related issues
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in political science, social science, public administration, international studies, economics, engineering, earth sciences, or a related field
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or other related area
- Experience preparing written reports, documents, and communications
- At least two years of international field experience in aid operations
- Experience in coordination and/or partner liaison
- Fluency in English and French
