The role

The Human Rights Officer/SGBV Investigator will serve as a SGBV investigator, researching and analyzing information related to sexual and gender-based violence, providing advice on drafting information gathering plans, conducting investigations, and developing analytical reports.

What you'll do

  • Serves as SGBV investigator and takes the lead in researching, collecting and analyzing information and documentation related to sexual and gender-based violence
  • Provides advice on drafting information gathering plans with respect to sexual-based violence-related issues
  • Conducts investigations, including through interviews with victims and witnesses, to gather information and corroborate allegations of violations
  • Develops analytical reports following fact finding missions
  • Ensures that all measures are taken for the protection of victims and witnesses

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in human rights is required
  • A minimum of two years of experience carrying out human rights investigations is required
  • A minimum of two years of experience carrying out investigations on sexual and gender-based violence is desirable
