The role

The Human Rights Officer/Investigator will research, collect and analyze information related to human rights violations, conduct investigations, monitor trends, and draft reports in support of the Group of Experts on Nicaragua.

What you'll do

  • Researches, collects and analyses information related to human rights violations
  • Conducts investigations, including interviews with victims and witnesses
  • Monitors trends and patterns of violations
  • Drafts relevant sections for the Group of Experts’ report
  • Ensures that gender perspective is integrated in all stages of work

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s) in law, political science, international relations or related field
  • At least five years of progressively responsible work experience in human rights
  • Experience carrying out human rights monitoring or investigations of violations
  • Fluency in English and Spanish at UN Level III
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct comprehensive legal research
  • Ability to draft reports and documents
