The role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a Human Rights Officer to join the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Odesa, Ukraine. This role involves planning and coordinating human rights activities, conducting substantive research, and analyzing trends regarding human rights violations. The incumbent will interview victims and witnesses, provide support to UN human rights mechanisms, and represent the mission at working-level meetings. This is a temporary six-month assignment with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

What you'll do

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in Law, Political Science, or International Relations.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or legal fields.
  • Minimum of two years of specific experience in human rights monitoring.
  • Fluency in English and Russian (written and spoken).
  • Experience working in conflict settings involving international humanitarian law.
