The role

The Human Rights Officer will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of SEARO’s Thailand programme, including two dedicated EU funded projects, ensuring alignment with OHCHR’s mandate, donor requirements, and national needs and priorities on human rights and the rule of law.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of SEARO’s Thailand programme
  • Review, monitor, and evaluate activities relating to the implementation of international human rights instruments
  • Support treaty-established bodies and extra-conventional mechanisms and special procedures
  • Prepare relevant human rights parts of reports for the General Assembly, HRC, etc.
  • Meet regularly with UN staff, national officials, military, and police officers to plan projects and review project activities
  • Train and supervise new/junior staff

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area
  • Experience managing a large technical cooperation programme and dynamic protection contexts
  • Experience maintaining close relationships with government authorities
  • 2 years or more of experience in data analytics or related areas
