The role
The Human Rights Officer will conduct research and analysis of business and human rights issues, ensure their integration into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts, write reports, and represent the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at various events.
What you'll do
- Conducts substantive research and analysis of business and human rights issues/events
- Ensures integration of business and human rights into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts
- Writes a variety of reports, communications, briefings, statements on business and human rights
- Represents OHCHR at events and working level meetings
- Coordinates capacity-building efforts on business and human rights
- Participates in the organizational and substantive aspects of meetings, seminars, and symposia
What it takes
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in human rights, law, political science, international relations, or related field
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law, or related area
- Experience working on business and human rights is required
- Experience conducting research on business and human rights and providing analytical advice and inputs for human rights reports and programmes
- Experience in project management and leading staff
- Fluency in English and French
