The role

The Human Resources Officer will provide administrative and operational support to entities with mandates pertaining to peace and security, including the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and Department of Peace Operations (DPO).

What you'll do

  • Provides advice and support to managers and staff on human resources related matters
  • Prepares special reports and participates in special human resources projects
  • Identifies upcoming vacancies and prepares vacancy announcements
  • Reviews applications, arranges and conducts interviews, and reviews recommendations on the selection of candidates
  • Supervises and monitors the work of Human Resources Assistants
  • Provides advice on interpretation and application of policies, regulations, and rules

What it takes

  • An advanced university degree in human resources management, communication, business or public administration, social sciences, education or related area
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administration or related area
  • Experience in the application and interpretation of staff rules and regulations in the United Nations or a similar international organization
  • Experience in post classification and recruitment in the United Nations or a similar international organization
  • Experience in implementing changes resulting from organizational reforms especially in the area of human resources management
  • Experience working in an Executive Office or a similar office setting is desirable
