The role
The Glacial Lakes Site Steward will perform stewardship, preserve management, and restoration operations in the Ordway-Glacial Lakes landscape, assisting with operational supervision of land management crews, volunteers, and interns.
What you'll do
- Performing stewardship, preserve management, and restoration operations
- Assisting with operational supervision of land management crews, volunteers, and interns
- Maintaining preserve areas and removing exotic species
- Developing and implementing conservation strategies
- Securing community support for TNC conservation priorities
- Supervising daily logistics, safety, and productivity of TNC staff, interns, volunteers, and contractors
What it takes
- BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in a science-related field
- Experience with natural systems and ecological land management principles
- Experience operating and repairing various types of equipment and machinery
- Qualified as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) per NWCG guidelines
- Physical fitness standard as determined by local Prescribed Fire Manager
- Class A commercial driver’s license or willingness to pursue one
