The role

The Gender Officer will be responsible for implementing gender-focused interventions to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment and active participation in decision-making among refugees and host communities.

What you'll do

  • Support the development and implementation of community level action plans addressing gender specific needs and barriers
  • Organize and deliver training sessions for women leaders on effective participation in leadership and decision-making processes
  • Facilitate engagement meetings with stakeholders to support women's access to land and follow up on agreed action plans
  • Coordinate community dialogues and awareness sessions on topics that promote positive masculinity and gender social norms
  • Mobilize women for leadership training for female community members
  • Develop and disseminate information on land rights, policies and laws

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development studies and or related fields
  • 3-4 years of full-time relevant professional experience in Gender, focused program implementation
  • Strong understanding of gender dynamics within rural and refugee affected areas
  • Proven experience in facilitating community training, dialogues and working with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and international Non-Governmental Organizations
