The role
The Gender Manager will provide technical leadership to ensure gender equality and gender mainstreaming are systematically integrated throughout the Caafimaad+ Childhood Immunization Program in Somalia.
What you'll do
- Conduct gender and social-norms analysis to identify barriers related to access, mobility, decision-making, caregiving responsibilities, information and service utilization, and integrate findings into program strategies and district micro-plans.
- Ensure gender considerations are incorporated across program planning, budgeting, implementation, supervision, MEAL, accountability, reporting, and learning.
- Advise on outreach locations, timing, service delivery approaches, staffing, and community engagement strategies to promote equitable access for girls and boys and the meaningful participation of women and men.
- Identify gender-related causes of missed, delayed or incomplete vaccination and support targeted solutions and follow-up mechanisms.
- Participate in relevant Caafimaad+, governmental, and partner coordination forums.
What it takes
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, International Development or a related field
- 3–5 years’ relevant experience in gender mainstreaming within humanitarian, health, nutrition, immunization or development programmes
- Demonstrated experience conducting gender analysis and integrating gender into programme design, implementation and MEAL
- Experience working in Somalia or similar fragile, conflict-affected or hard-to-reach settings
- Strong knowledge of gender equality, inclusion, safeguarding, PSEA and protection principles
- Experience working with communities on gender and social norms affecting access to services
