The role
The Gateway Community & Partnerships Engagement Fellow will support the National Park Service in implementing Secretary’s Order 3434 to strengthen relationships with gateway communities. The fellow will develop tools, resources, and case studies to help park managers improve stakeholder engagement and partnership development. This AmeriCorps position involves collaborating with national offices, sister agencies, and park units to build capacity and advance strategic outdoor recreation priorities. The role provides hands-on experience in public engagement and federal service through a one-year placement.
What you'll do
- Support the implementation of Secretary’s Order 3434 and the EXPLORE Act.
- Develop case studies, best practices, and resources for NPS park managers.
- Assist with interagency coordination and strategic planning meetings.
- Identify potential local partners and NGOs to improve visitor access.
- Support the organizational efforts for a pilot cohort of gateway community interns.
