The role
The Whitney Museum is hiring a Fellow to support the Sondra Gilman Study Center for a two-year term. This role involves managing day-to-day operations of the facility, which houses over 18,000 works on paper and photographs. The Fellow will collaborate with the Curatorial, Conservation, and Exhibitions & Collections Management departments on research, stewardship, and display projects.
What you'll do
- Support exhibition and collection research, including acquisition processing.
- Manage the Study Center calendar for internal and external appointments.
- Serve as the primary correspondent for curators, scholars, and artists.
- Supervise visitors and provide access to collection items.
- Coordinate with Conservation and Collections Management to track artwork movement.
What it takes
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) required.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in a museum, gallery, or academic setting.
- Knowledge of 20th- and 21st-century art history, specifically drawings, prints, or photography.
- Experience with TMS preferred.
- Ability to handle works on paper and lift moderately heavy boxes.
