The role

Action for Children is seeking a Family Support Practitioner in Ballymena to provide holistic interventions for families with children under four. The role involves home visits, community engagement, and developing parenting support programs. It focuses on ensuring children have a safe and happy childhood through multi-disciplinary teamwork.

What you'll do

  • Take lead responsibility for Family Support at the service to support the Senior Team.
  • Collaborate with all members of the Sure Start team.
  • Conduct home visits including promotional, social, emotional, and practical parenting support.
  • Support families to attend center-based services and signpost them to other relevant services.
  • Assess family needs and create service plans in partnership with families.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver individual and group-based services.

What it takes

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care, Early Years Childcare or equivalent.
  • Experience working with families and children.
  • Thorough understanding of child protection and Safeguarding.
  • Understanding of physical, intellectual, linguistic, social, and emotional growth in children.
  • Excellent communication skills to build collaborative relationships.
  • Good IT skills.
