The role

The UNDP Sub-Regional Hub for West and Central Africa is seeking an Economic Governance Specialist to provide high-level policy advice and technical assistance to country offices. The role focuses on strengthening economic governance systems, promoting Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), and advancing fiscal integrity to achieve the SDGs. The incumbent will lead programme design, oversee resource mobilization, and manage strategic partnerships with governments and international stakeholders. This position is based in Dakar, Senegal, and requires significant experience in economic reform and digital financial inclusion.

What you'll do

  • Provide senior-level policy advice on economic governance and fiscal reform to national institutions.
  • Lead the design and implementation of regional programmes focused on DPI and Instant Payment Systems.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, IFIs, and donors for resource mobilization.
  • Oversee programme quality assurance, results-based management, and reporting.
  • Supervise the Economic Governance and Partnership Officer.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, or related fields.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in economic governance or digital financial services (9 years with a Bachelor's).
  • Proven experience leading multi-country projects in West or Central Africa.
  • Proficiency in oral and written French is required.
  • Demonstrated track record in resource mobilization and donor engagement.
