The role
Support refugees to achieve economic self-sufficiency by providing casework services, training, and job application assistance.
What you'll do
- Provide clients with support in completing and submitting various applications to reduce barriers to employment
- Conduct training on public transportation, childcare options, digital literacy, job readiness, and public benefits
- Support clients in job application hours
- Coordinate with economic empowerment service teams
- Facilitate client outings to financial institutions, libraries, and other venues
- Other duties as identified by the FES Program Coordinator
What it takes
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent communication and writing skills, including cross-cultural communication skills
- Works well in a fast-paced environment and adapts quickly to change
- Strong interest in refugee and asylee issues
- Language skills in Spanish, Amharic, Dari, Pashto, Haitian-Creole, French, Kinyarwanda, or Swahili are a plus
- Three-month minimum commitment, preferred full-time, 24 hours/week
