The role
The Early Education Specialist at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) supports refugee children's access to preschool services and academic success, assists parents in participating in their children’s school activities, and helps schools identify resources for refugee students and families.
What you'll do
- Lead planning and implementation of IRC’s efforts to maximize accessibility for clients to early childhood educational opportunities
- Connect families with community resources, including early childhood education programs and childcare providers
- Provide individualized case management support to students and families
- Support parents in advocating for their children's special needs
- Maintain accurate and timely case documentation
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
- Relevant work experience in positive childhood development, social-emotional development, youth academic support, or a school-based setting preferred
- Prior experience providing support to recently arrived immigrant children and/or parents and families strongly preferred
- Fluency in English; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
