The role

The IDB Group is seeking a Disaster Risk Modeling Consultant to support the Ready and Resilient Americas initiative and the DRM Action Plan 2026-2030, focusing on risk analysis and uncertainty management, and the development of a risk calculation platform.

What you'll do

  • Prepare reports and presentations on the implementation of the Ready and Resilient initiative and the DRM Action Plan.
  • Provide technical support for the development of the risk platform, including non-traditional hazards and probabilistic methodologies.
  • Advise on the development of sectoral tools for risk identification in infrastructure and social systems.
  • Support the management and update of the RISKHUB web page and IDB GIBHUB.
  • Provide support for the development of the RiskHUB community of practice.
  • Conduct training for Bank specialists and clients in probabilistic disaster risk analysis and uncertainty management.

What it takes

  • Master's degree in Civil engineering or relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in research and analysis for comprehensive disaster risk management.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written.
  • Citizenship of one of the 48-member countries of the IDB.
  • No family members working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
  • Ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary team.
