The role

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet is seeking a Director of Principal Giving to establish and lead its principal giving function within a newly formed Partnerships and Philanthropy Division. The successful candidate will build a high-value donor pipeline, cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals and family foundations, and secure significant philanthropic commitments. This leadership role involves working closely with senior staff and the Board to develop strategies that mobilize resources for global energy system transformation. The role requires deep expertise in major gift fundraising and the ability to operate effectively in a global, collaborative environment.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute a global major giving strategy focused on securing six-figure gifts.
  • Cultivate and manage a high-value donor pipeline including family foundations and HNWI networks.
  • Collaborate with the Board to activate relationships for solicitation and institutional ambassadorship.
  • Provide strategic leadership within the Partnerships and Philanthropy Division to drive team growth.
  • Represent the organization externally at high-level philanthropic forums and speaking engagements.

  • 10+ years of experience in major and principal gift fundraising.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar portfolios.
  • Experience in the environment, climate, or clean energy sectors is highly desirable.
