Director of Accounting

The role

The Director of Accounting leads the accounting function and its team of eight, focusing on month-end close, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and grant ledgers. This is a hands-on role requiring leadership, change management, and strong organizational skills.

What you'll do

• Lead and rebuild the team
• Design and own a structured month-end close process
• Oversee payroll and accounts payable
• Maintain grant ledgers
• Partner on board reporting
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors

What it takes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience directly supervising accounting staff
• Working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Experience with restricted funds and federal grant drawdowns
• Experience leading or supporting an external financial statement audit
