The role
The Director, IT & Critical Infrastructure Instructor Development at Per Scholas is responsible for training, development, and quality assurance of instructional staff supporting IT and Critical Infrastructure programs.
What you'll do
- Serve as the senior technical training leader for the portfolio, balancing functional leadership with hands-on instructor training, technical coaching, and development.
- Establish training standards and processes that support instructional excellence across technical pathways.
- Directly manage and mentor a Manager of Instructional Development & Delivery.
- Facilitate and support technical instructor training across Data Center Operations, Low Voltage / Fiber Optics Technician, and Critical Facilities pathways.
- Validate hands-on instructor competency in applicable areas such as server and network hardware, rack-and-stack operations, virtualization, structured cabling, fiber termination and testing, electrical and mechanical systems, power and cooling, building systems, and structured troubleshooting.
- Conduct classroom observations, instructional audits, technical skills reviews, and readiness assessments.
What it takes
- 8+ years of combined experience in IT and Critical Infrastructure environments
- 3+ years of experience leading technical training, instructor development, workforce development, apprenticeship, or technical education programs
- Experience managing and developing technical talent, including instructors, trainers, technicians, or technical teams
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex technical systems and equipment
- Industry-recognized certifications such as SACA, CMRT, NIMS, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, FANUC, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, or equivalent manufacturing, maintenance, automation, or safety credentials
- Experience supporting instructor development, Train-the-Trainer programs, apprenticeship programs, or workforce development initiatives
