The role
As a Direct Support Professional, you will assist individuals with developmental disabilities in living vibrant, meaningful, and independent lives. You will provide personalized support, help with daily routines, and advocate for their rights.
What you'll do
- Assist with care to a group of people who enjoy doing puzzles, going to the park, and doing arts and crafts
- Help with cooking nutritional meals
- Support with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care
- Be patient and respectful in action and speaking
- Advocate for each person’s rights and help build their confidence and sense of self
- Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support
What it takes
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points
- Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed
- Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete)
