The role
The internship position is located in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSAF) in Pretoria, South Africa. The incumbent will assist in preparing reports, developing strategic communications, proofreading documents, providing logistical support, conducting research, monitoring information, attending conferences, and maintaining databases.
What you'll do
- Assist in preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points, articles and other materials.
- Assist in the development of strategic communications, presentations and visualizations.
- Proofread documents, reviewing style, grammar and consistency.
- Provide logistical support for in-person and virtual events and convenings.
- Assist in conducting research on issues related to trans-national organized crime including asset confiscation, international cooperation, and illicit financial flows etc.
- Attend and take notes at conferences and meetings.
What it takes
- Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and strong team-working capacity.
