The role

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific is seeking a consultant to conduct economic analysis on making trade and investment policies 'climate-smarter' and supportive of nature-based solutions. The consultant will develop tools and databases, and contribute to technical materials related to Essential Medical Products modules in TINA. This role involves reporting to the Trade Policy and Facilitation Section for an 8-month project based in Bangkok. The work includes evaluating trade barriers, subsidies, and legislative frameworks across target countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives, and Samoa.

What you'll do

  • Conduct economic analysis on climate-smart trade and investment policies.
  • Develop tools and databases to support nature-based solution research.
  • Contribute technical material for Essential Medical Products modules in TINA.
  • Deliver project outputs in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint formats.
  • Report to the Chief of the Trade Policy and Facilitation Section.

What it takes

  • Bachelor's degree in economics with a focus on international trade.
  • Experience in conducting desk research in international trade or economics.
  • Proficiency in R coding and text analysis.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of NTMs and MAST classification is desirable.
