The role
The consultant will provide substantive support to the Working Group on guiding principles on responsible sovereign borrowing and lending, including research, analysis, and preparation of reports and presentations.
What you'll do
- Undertake research on existing principles on responsible borrowing and lending
- Prepare analysis on the existing architecture of principles and their respective effectiveness
- Provide substantive guidance for all meetings of the Working Group
- Prepare interim and final reports of the Working Group
- Advise on outreach and consultation efforts of the Working Group
- Contribute to the UN Dialogue on debt and substantive preparations for the 2027 Financing for Sustainable Development Report
What it takes
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in development studies, international relations, economics, finance, political science, law, or a related field
- Detailed knowledge of policy issues around sovereign debt, and sovereign borrowing and lending principles
- A publication record on sovereign debt issues
- Minimum of 5 years of established expertise in the field of sustainable development and/or financing for development, including financing policy and analysis
- Previous work experiences at the United Nations or another international organization
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and drafting skills
