The role

The Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a consultant to develop comprehensive regulatory guidelines for non-interest (Islamic) finance in Ghana. The role focuses on ensuring Shariah compliance, enhancing market infrastructure, and mitigating financial risks within the capital market. The consultant will also design capacity-building and training programs for regulators and market participants. This project is expected to span a duration of 4 months.

What you'll do

  • Develop guidelines for non-interest financial instruments and REITs.
  • Establish Shariah compliance frameworks for market activities.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to non-interest finance market infrastructure.
  • Identify and develop strategies to mitigate credit, market, and operational risks.
  • Design and implement training programs for market regulators and participants.

What it takes

  • Advanced degree in Capital Markets, Finance, Islamic Economics, or Banking.
  • Minimum of 5 years of responsible experience in Islamic finance and global Shariah capital markets.
  • Proven experience in formulating regulations related to Islamic finance.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Experience working with regulatory authorities in sub-Saharan Africa is desirable.
