The role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a consultant to conduct terminal reviews for two climate change mitigation projects in Burundi and Cameroon. The consultant will lead the design, data collection, analysis, and report-writing processes in accordance with GEF and UNEP evaluation guidelines. This home-based role requires extensive coordination with project stakeholders and reporting to the Africa team within the Global Funds Mitigation and Transparency Section.

What you'll do

  • Lead terminal review design, data collection, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Draft reconstructed Theories of Change and terminal review frameworks.
  • Author comprehensive terminal review reports in English.
  • Coordinate with project teams to collect and analyze project implementation data.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relations during the evaluation process.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in management, environment, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in evaluation and monitoring of development projects.
  • Fluency in both English and French (oral and written) is required.
  • Experience working with national governments in Africa or developing countries.
  • Familiarity with GEF and UNEP evaluation policy and guidance.
