The role

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking a consultant to research and analyze active longevity centers in Kazakhstan and peer countries. The selected candidate will draft a working paper in English and Russian on the policy landscape, success stories, and future opportunities of these centers. This role involves evaluating how community-based approaches can support older persons' aging in place.

What you'll do

  • Draft a working paper in English on the1 history, status quo, and future opportunities of active longevity centers in Kazakhstan.
  • Provide a Russian translation of the final report.
  • Analyze how active longevity centers were established in Kazakhstan and identify enabling factors.
  • Assess performance of various models of active longevity centers against national policy and MIPAA objectives.
  • Compare findings with good practices from other countries in Asia and the Pacific.
  • Provide policy recommendations for improving and scaling these programs.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in social or medical sciences.
  • At least 5 years of experience researching population ageing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kazakhstan's aging and longevity policies.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research involving stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and Russian.
  • Familiarity with the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA).
