The role
The Expert will research, analyze, and present information in the framework of the mandate(s) contained in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
What you'll do
- Contribute to the monitoring of sanctions measures and research on/analysis of alleged sanctions violations or non-compliance
- Prepare and deliver briefings and presentations on sanctions regimes
- Contribute to the preparation of recommendations for improved implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions
- Collaborate with regional/international organizations and the United Nations system
- Draft and follow up on correspondence in areas of responsibility
- Classify, categorize, and archive materials obtained in the course of the Panel’s or Monitoring Team’s missions and activities
What it takes
- An advanced university degree in military science, political science, international relations, law, finance, economics, journalism or other relevant area
- A minimum of ten years (including a minimum of three years of field experience) of progressively responsible experience
- Field experience in post-conflict or other transitional situations
- Field research or investigative experience in the area of expertise
- Experience in writing high-quality reports
- Fluency in English, and fluency in French may be required
