The role

The Expert will research, analyze, and present information in the framework of the mandate(s) contained in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the monitoring of sanctions measures and research on/analysis of alleged sanctions violations or non-compliance
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and presentations on sanctions regimes
  • Contribute to the preparation of recommendations for improved implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions
  • Collaborate with regional/international organizations and the United Nations system
  • Draft and follow up on correspondence in areas of responsibility
  • Classify, categorize, and archive materials obtained in the course of the Panel’s or Monitoring Team’s missions and activities

What it takes

  • An advanced university degree in military science, political science, international relations, law, finance, economics, journalism or other relevant area
  • A minimum of ten years (including a minimum of three years of field experience) of progressively responsible experience
  • Field experience in post-conflict or other transitional situations
  • Field research or investigative experience in the area of expertise
  • Experience in writing high-quality reports
  • Fluency in English, and fluency in French may be required
