The role

Oxfam International is seeking a seasoned safeguarding advisor to lead the implementation of safeguarding strategies and programs across Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring the protection of communities, staff, and partners from exploitation, abuse, and sexual harassment, as well as child abuse.

What you'll do

  • Lead the implementation of safeguarding strategies and programs
  • Develop and implement prevention and response strategies
  • Strengthen capacity in safeguarding for country offices and partners
  • Pilot inclusive feedback and complaint mechanisms
  • Manage cases with a survivor-centered approach
  • Provide technical expertise in safeguarding investigations

  • Proven experience in preventing and responding to exploitation, abuse, and sexual harassment
  • Experience in technical advisory, capacity building, and team/partner support
  • Expertise in case management, survivor-centered approaches, and complex, sensitive situations
  • Knowledge of community-based feedback and complaint mechanisms, confidentiality, and ethical information management
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
