The role
The Coastal Advocate leads Mid-Coast community-based advocacy efforts in support of One Hundred Miles’ mission to protect Georgia’s coast, strengthen community resilience, and promote responsible growth.
What you'll do
- Serve as the lead advocacy representative for assigned counties within Georgia's Mid Coast region
- Lead place-based advocacy campaigns
- Increase civic engagement by building coalitions and effective partnerships
- Ensure advocacy strategies are informed by and responsive to historically underrepresented communities
- Implement organizing strategies, tactics, and tools
- Serve as an issue expert and represent One Hundred Miles at public meetings
What it takes
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent lived and professional experience
- At least three years of experience in one or more of the following: community organizing, advocacy or public policy, environmental conservation, land-use planning, community development, civic engagement
- Demonstrated experience building partnerships and engaging diverse stakeholders
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities
- Ability to attend occasional evening meetings and travel throughout coastal Georgia
