The role

The Climate Finance Advisor will provide technical advisory and coordination support to the Ministry of Finance’s Climate Finance Unit, with a focus on strengthening systems for managing and tracking climate finance.

  • Conduct climate finance landscape and gap assessments
  • Develop a climate finance mobilization roadmap
  • Support the transition from ad hoc climate tracking to a permanent, automated climate budget tagging system
  • Build institutional capacity and knowledge transfer

  • Provide technical assistance for climate budget tagging and institutional capacity

What it takes

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, climate policy, environmental economics, or a relevant field with 5 years of relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in climate finance and/or public financial management
  • Working knowledge of climate budget tagging, climate finance tracking systems, and green public financial management reforms
  • Experience collaborating with IFMIS teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of the climate finance landscape
  • Familiarity with UNFCCC processes and government climate change processes
